Challenge of the Month
A Whole New Way to Look at Your Business

We’ve talked here about why most artists never earn a prosperous living from their art – because they’re all following the same standard, limited approaches in the same standard, limited market places. And they’re missing a whole world of lucrative opportunities that are right within their grasp.

So how do you break out of the familiar system, and build a successful business as an artist? We believe the key is Multiple Streams of Art Income (MSOAI).

So, what is Multiple Streams of Art Income and how can it help you?

A New Paradigm
Multiple Streams of Art Income

Multiple Streams of Art Income is a revolutionary marketing paradigm for leveraging each act of creation into multiple income-producing products and services.

By applying a simple 8-step formula, you’ll identify your unique innate gift, and direct it to attract and keep far greater numbers of fans. They’ll buy from you over and over again, because you’ll be producing a lot more of the great creative work they love, with a lot less effort than you’re expending now. And, of course, you’ll make a lot more money doing it.

We want to be clear, we are NOT talking about doing bits and pieces of different things to eke out a living – we’re talking about doing the creative work you love most, and packaging and selling it in multiple ways.

In this month’s Artist’s EDGE Membership call, on Thursday, July 12th, we’ll teach you the 8 steps to building your Multiple Streams of Art Income business and work with you to start implementing them. You can participate live or listen to a recording later on for only $1. Then on Monday, July 16th, we’ll answer your questions and help you to begin this process in your own business.

So, here’s a taste. Have you ever walked into an ice cream store and they give you a free taste of their ice cream? How hard is it to leave without buying ice cream after you have that free taste? Really hard, right? This is the Pink Spoon.

Your Pink Spoon is a free (or very inexpensive) taste of your product that is just enough to entice your customer into a deeper relationship.

Once they’ve tasted, perhaps they buy a scoop. The next time they come in, maybe they buy a pint to bring home, or even an ice cream cake. Each level is a higher price point. As the customer deepens their relationship with you, as they get to know you, like you, trust you, they become more willing to purchase higher price-point items. And if they really love your ice cream, perhaps they’ll even invest in your franchise.

You can build any business on this model. Say you’re a musician. Right now you probably have two types of products – CD’s and performances. In a Multiple Streams business, you might also sell DVD’s of individual songs, mini-CD singles, live on-the-spot performance recordings, books of sheet music or performance photos, workshops and performances for niche markets incorporating your songs, workbooks or e-books based on your workshops, etc. You might turn your CD cover art into t-shirts, bumper stickers, and coffee mugs. You could start a fan club, where fans pay a bit monthly or annually for special extras, like discounts, package deals, or sneak previews of songs or snippets not yet on CD.

You’ll leverage the creative work you’ve already done into multiple forms. Your fans can spend what they’re comfortable with, and they’ll keep coming back for more. Because you’ll offer lots of new ways for them to play with you… without a lot of extra work for you.

Multiple Streams in Action
We Use It Too!

We first learned this concept from Andrea J. Lee, who wrote the wonderful book Multiple Streams of Coaching Income. We’ve studied with Andrea and are licensed to teach the Multiple Streams Concept.

We’ve based our own business on it, and have trained our clients to use it. We can attest to its power and how profoundly it’s expanded the reach, income, and sustainability of our coaching business, and our clients’ art businesses. By the way, the Artist’s EDGE Membership is an expression of the Multiple Streams concept.

If you’re ready to make a lot more money with a lot less effort, doing the creative work you love most, we hope you’ll explore how you can put this powerful concept to work for you.
